Description: Photographs probably taken by George William Barltrop, circa 1890s-1900s. Most of the scenes are taken on a river boat trip up the Whanganui River, and include two of groups of Maori; one showing two nuns in full habit, walking behind three young Maori girls who are wearing ankle-length dresses. Some of the river scenes show stretches of the river, including several `on the rapids', and one of a group of men in a waka. Others are of the various villages passed on the trip, including one of the river boat tied up at Jerusalem, with a cart drawn by two horses alongside. One view shows the mouth of the Whanganui River at Patea, and from there the images are of the New Plymouth area, including Mount Taranaki (then Mount Egmont), the Sugar Loaves, the monument to Wiremu Tamati on the hill at Corbett Park (Oakura), and Opunake. Description: Record of a trip from Woodville to Napier and Taupo via the Napier-Taupo Road, February to March 1913. Views include Dannevirke, the upper reaches of the Manawatu River, Waipukurau Lake, Tavistock Hotel, the rail and foot bridge across the Waipawa River between Waipukurau and Waipawa, Hastings Post Office; motor and horse-drawn buses which run between Hastings and Havelock North; house under construction in Henry Street, Hastings (house named Ackworth, owned by Laurence Denton, accountant); views of Cape Kidnappers and the gannet rookery; Ed James and family at their seaside bungalow at Te Awanga; views of Napier and Ahuriri; the Taradale Road embankment over the Tutaekuri River, the Ahuriri Lagoon and mudflats; Marine Parade, Napier showing Norfolk pines, the Municipal Baths and a monument to "six brave men drowned in floods while rescuing people at Clive". Views on the Napier-Taupo Road including the Mohaka River, Tarawera Hotel in Waipunga Valley; Lake Taupo; Huka Falls; Aratiatia Rapids on the Waikato River; hot pool at the Geyser House Hotel (Wairakei) with a group of children swimming; Wairakei Geyser Valley showing geysers, and mud pools.

Description: Photographs of New Zealand circa 1890s, probably taken by George William Barltrop. They cover two areas, the first is in the Canterbury region, including a series of views of the Avon River, the road to New Brighton, New Brighton itself, Timaru (including the Timaru Breakwater, and the Timaru Lighthouse), and Mr Prudhoe's house in Christchurch. The other region is around Wellington, including Wadestown, St Thomas' Church in Newtown (views of the church, and several scenes of a bazaar held near the church; some with children wearing fancy dress).
