Description: Drawn on a cadastral base map of the Lower Hutt industrial area, bounded by the Waiwhetu River, the Hutt River and the roads Bell, Park, Seaview and Gracefield, the annotations show sections sold (in red) and sections open for selection (in green). The sections are numbered with acreages, and the railway line runs through the area. Areas sold include the names Schweppes Ltd., ESW Paul, Wm Cable & Co., Wellington Concrete Pipe Coy., Ford Motor Co., Hume Pipe Coy., Vacuum Oil Coy., Texas Oil Coy., CH Morley, WA Cairns. Railway workshops, drainage easements, sewers, septic tanks, pumping stations, a quarry and watermains are marked. Areas open for selection are unnamed. The Hutt Park, the Waiwhetu Pa and its cemetery are shown. Unpublished base map: Industrial area Hutt Valley settlement [s.d]. Glued to the top centre-left of the map is a typed note addressed to Mr Davis, Lands Office, dated 24/5/1943. It states: 'All this land now occupied by American or Air Force. Description: The first map is a plan of Turangawaewae Marae, Waikato, showing the pa site, including Turongo House, Mahingarangi House, Kimi-kimi Dining Hall, octagon office, flag poles, recreation grounds and lawns. Arrows from the river road to Hamilton East go through and lead out of the pa. The second map is partly a locality map, but also includes numbered sections, with acreages, west and southwest of Turangawaewae, while arrows show movement through the pa. Description: A cadastral base map, updated 1 May 1939, of the Hutt Industrial Estate, adjacent to the Waiwhetu River and converging with the Hutt River, has been used to detail sections sold to the New Zealand Government. Some acreages and boundaries have changed. The industrial sections, numbered with acreages, are adjacent to Bell, Gracefield, Park and Seaview Roads, with the railway line running through the centre of the industrial area. Names include Grant and Co., Wellington Concrete, Schweppes Ltd., P. J. Pullan, E. S. W. Paul, Millans West Australian Hardwoods Ltd. sold to Cable & Co., Winstones Roofing Tile Works Ltd., W. Cable & Co. Ltd., Acetone Illuminating & Welding Coy. Ltd., Wellington Concrete Pipe Coy., Ford Motor Co. of N.Z. Ltd., Hume Pipe Coy., Vaccuum Oil Coy., Texas Oil Coy., British Australian Lead Manufacturers Ltd., Suburban Properties Ltd. A railway easement and reserve are marked as are Railway Workshops. Includes drainage easements, sewers, septic tanks, pumping stations and watermains, some of which are referred to in a key. Areas of Crown Land, Hutt Park, the Trotting Club, a cemetery and the Waiwhetu Pa are named. Residential properties include the names of C. H. Morley and W. A. Cairns. Description: Map of the Hutt Valley settlement industrial area, highlighted in red two areas where various industrial firms are sited on Department of Lands and Survey land. The first area is Bouverie St in Ava, Petone, and includes the firms WD & HO Wills NZ, Metters NZ and General Motors NZ. The second area is Gracefield and a small part of Seaview, and includes the firms Texas Coy., Vacuum Oil Co., Hume Pipe Co., Ford Motor Coy. of NZ, Wm Cable and Co., Schweppes, ESW Paul, Millars West Australia Bardwoods, Wellington Concrete Pipe Coy., WA Cairns and CH Morley. The remainder of the map shows named streets, settlements, railways, reserves, cadastral information, the racecourse, wharves and both Gear Island and Seaview before major land reclamation work. Description: A copy of a base map of Tongariro timber areas includes state forests and covers the area from the Whakapapa, Wanganui and Taringamutu Rivers to Lake Taupo, Tokaanu and the Waikato River, and the road from National Park to Taupo. A key indicates forestry areas as Crown, Native, Crown & Native, Cut-over, Committed and State Forest, all of which are colour coded. The majority of these forestry blocks are named on the map. Pencilled annotations refer to possible access of tracks through forestry blocks. The west shore of Lake Taupo has detailed information about Maori occupation naming pa and whare sites, geographical features, settlements, references to Waka, also some names of people. All names are in the Maori language with some English translations. The base map includes rivers and streams, main highways and private roads. The Pokaka Timber Company and Ketetahi Smg. Co. are named. Includes the names of Hopkins, Speirs & Winger, C.P. & P.D. Smith, Wier & Kenny, McKee Bros., K.R. Kapoor. A note states that this plan was compiled for reference inspection by S.A.C.
