Description: Views of wellington, some of its principle streets, and in particular some of the new buildings constructed in the late 1950s and 1960s. General views of the city taken from Mount Victoria and the harbour shoreline show the central city and give views of the waterfront and parts of the Town Belt. There are coastal localities such as Kau Bay and Wellington heads, a view of Rongotai and the Airport, and a view across the southern Hutt Valley looking west. Another group of images relate to forests and forestry. These include land clearance, stands of Pinus radiata, machines moving logs, and a fire engine. Others record a trip in the South Island, possibly the West Coast. There are views of hills covered in native forest, rivers, lakes and mountains. One group of images were taken in Rajasthan, India. These include towns, palaces, fortifications, temples, and the Taj Mahal. Photographed by Martin Shute in the 1950s and 1960s Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s).
