Description: Shows two trees standing side by side in the foreground, in front of a hilly landscape. The hill in the middle distance is covered with bush. The view is from Matuku Pa, inland Patea, Wanganui Mr Randall Springer of the Whanganui Historical Society has identified this as a view in the Mokai Patea Range east of Utiku, rather than Patea in Taranaki. Dated from information from Taylor's Journal, supplied by Richard Steedman of Taumata Huaora Trust, 3 Nov. 2003. Description: Shows a view from a hilltop across bush-clad hills towards the Ruahine Range. The artist has crossed out his identification of the range as the Tararua Range. The view is from the site of Matuku Pa Mr Randall Springer of the Whanganui Historical Society has identified this as a view in the Mokai Patea Range east of Utiku, rather than Patea in Taranaki. Identified by Richard Steedman, November 2003, as one of five views taken from Matuku Pa, inland Patea, on 13 March 1845.
