Includes numbered sections with acreages, some including sites of buildings, a homestead, tennis court, circular garden, line of sewer drain. Boundaries are marked, especially building line distances from roads. Includes tracks and drives, roads are named, and the Wellington to Eastbourne Road is decribed as a bitumen road. The Francis Bell Reserve with the approximate area of 120 acres, also one section to be retained by trustees, are marked. The section of C. W. D Bell includes a note stating that it is not for sale. Description: A base map entitled Provisional map of the Hutt County has annotations depicting the authorised boundaries of the Hutt Electoral District, as authorised by the Representation Commission in 1909 which is referred to in a hand-written note. Areas included within the boundary are Pencarrow, Belmont, Rimutaka, Akatarawa and Eretonga [i.e. Heretaunga]. The area is named Hutt and includes the population total of 12753. Adjacent areas are named as Wellington suburbs, Otaki and Wairarapa, but no boundaries of these areas are included. Base map: Provisional map of the Hutt County. (Wellington, New Zealand Lands and Survey Department, [s.d.].) Base map shows numbered land blocks with acreages, timber and water reserves, forest reserves, a pastoral licence block, the Wellington and Railway Company blocks, named rivers and peaks, topographical detail. Base map includes the logo of the New Zealand Lands and Survey and the name of J. W. Description: Cadastral map with topographic markings, showing the Lowry Bay Estate of over 54 acres on the coast at Lowry Bay proper. Paddocks in the Waiwhetu Flat (Seaview) are also shown. The Lowry Bay District is outlined, with link measurements (bounded by the Waiwhetu District and the Harbour District). Two sections bordering Lowry Bay District are shown - 19 (owned by G Grey) and 18 (owned by D Dick). Note on catalogue card: Compiled at time of dispute over wharf at Lowry Bay, 1877-1887. See accompanying copy of correspondence from file relating to Lowry Bay (regarding McIntyre of Lowry Bay Estate requesting permission to construct two jettys, the Wellington Harbour Board and the Marine Department). Description: Geological sketch of the middle and southern part of the South Island, from Mantell's route from Akaroa to Kaiapoi, south along the coast to Dunedin and return by sea. Names (mostly in Maori) rivers, coastal areas and lakes. Stuarts (Stewart) Island is shown. Shows Maori tracks from interior lakes to the coast, with travel times in days. Marks 'wahi pounamu', route of the author's track, and the boundary of the land block purchased by Commissioner Henry Tacy Kemp, JP. Also marks rock type as per reference key, including slate and quartz conglomerate, limestone, diluvial, tertiary and green gritty marl.
