Description: Copy of a topographic map of the area in the Murimotu District from the Kaiiwi River and the Ohura River across to Lake Taupo, the Kaimanawa Ranges and the Rangitikei River. Cut road lines, proposed lines and native tracks are referred to in a reference key. Some tracks are routes proposed by Mr. Hogg and Mr. Booth, also an old war track described by natives is marked. Plantations, mountain peaks, rivers and streams are named. Relief features are described. Major Marshall's and Birch's Station are marked. Handwritten note on bottom right of map: The lake and mountains are from Hochstetter's map corrected by the Auckland Trig Survey: the Wanganui River from Brewer's survey, and the Upper Turakina and Rangitikei from Swainson's map corrected by Monro's survey. Description: Cadastral map of Evans Bay to Kilbirnie, also to Constable and Owen streets, Newtown, Wellington. The area includes the coastline with Patent Slip and proposed jetties near Belvedere Road to Rodrigo Road, Kilbirnie. Numbered sections include acreages and some sites of houses. Roads are named and a stream with a bridge is marked. A note states 'right to water' at Busaco Road. A track to Lyell [sic] Bay is noted, as is a road to the Pilot Station. The town belt is marked. The lithographer is named as Lyon & Blair. Additions to the map are prominently marked sections at Evans Bay with various dates and names of Short, Williams, Ferguson, Harcourt, B. Description: Maps identifies mission stations, station outposts and religious frontier posts. These have been annotated in coloured pen to distinguish religious groups, for example Church Mission (Society Anglican), Wesleyan Missionary Society, Roman Catholic Mission, Prebyterian Mission and North German Missionary Society. The most prominent group is the Church Missionary Society and then the Catholic Society. The mission stations are most dense in the Auckland region and the upper North Island. In contrast, there are no inland stations in the entire South Island. The enlargement (29 x 72 cm) shows the most dense section of mission stations, between Bay of Islands and the Hokianga harbour and north up to Kaitaia and Whangaroa. Description: Drawn on a base map of the Waipawa Borough, the annotations depict properties with block number, acreage, Crown grant reference numbers and names of purchasers. The properties vary in size from 10 to 30 acres, and are made up of several streets of suburban sized sections. The names are Robert Mixer Skeet, James Fougere, Thomas Dawson Triphook and Edward George Wright, Louis Noel Du Noyer, William Fannin, Frederick Sedgwick Abbott, Christopher Lockyer, Thomas Gill, Allan MacMaster, Algernon Gray Tollemache. See accompanying one page note entitled 'Schedule of persons who purchased from the Crown the lands comprised in the township of Waipawa'. Patangata Crown Grant District.' River Thames refers to the Firth of Thames. Compiled largely from the work of Dumont D'Urville and crew of Astrolabe, 1827, during his exploration of New Zealand, and possibly others. Includes the surveyors' route which began on 1st. June, ca. 1848, from a site along the Manawatu River to the Ruamahanga River, Lake Wairarapa, ending at the Hutt River on 20 June.
