Description: Three black and white prints; no known link between prints. Taken by unknown photographers, probably between 1894 and 1900. Includes two class portraits of a girls school taken in a garden. One print captioned 'Lower Glenside School, October 1896', the other print embossed 'Hanna Photo', probably taken by John Robert Hanna of Auckland. Adult woman with lace cap features in both photographs. Also includes a wide view overlooking Taihape township surrounded by felled trees, bush and unsealed roads. Accompanying information - Lower Glenside School print was accompanied by a post-it-note 'Tawa mgt' (not retained). A girls day and boarding school called 'Lower Glenside School' operated from Upper Symonds Street, Auckland, circa 1890s. Description: Album of photographs collected by Rev G E Mason on a trip around the world in 1885-1886. Comprises photographs of California, Tasmania, Sydney, Ceylon, Egypt and New Zealand. In 1884 the Bishop of Lichfield recieved a request from the bishops of Christchurch and Auckland, New Zealand, to send clergy to conduct missions in their dioceses. To this end he invited Rev G E Mason, and Rev Charles Bodington to do the job. The two clegymen left Liverpool for the United States on the 4th of July 1885, spent a summer in New Zealand, and returned to England in September 1886. Description: Shows Mount Ruapehu in the central distance. Two women stand together in the right foreground on an area of lawn in a landscaped garden. The garden comprises swathes of lawn surrounded by shrubs and trees, with a seat in the centre and possibly a small bower at the end of the lawned area at the left. The other works in the group include one dated 1892 and one dated 1893, and it is assumed that all date from the late 1880s and early 1890s. Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - T.G.
