Description: Shows an interior of a Maori meeting house with carved pillars. A jazz band is playing in the left far corner. In the doorway stands a man whose clothes are lit up by the light from the hall. A photograph of a woodcut held at E-915-q-016. The image is photographed in E-918-q, 70/201a. Description: Begins with friends, Christmas 1988, and friends feature throughout the album. Also includes - A group on the lawn in front of Government House, Wellington. Interior views of no.13 Upland Road, Kelburn, Wellington. A trip to Ohakune featuring Maungarongo Marae and Tikarina Ringapoto meeting house. People at the Marae include weavers and a carver as the building was being enlarged and the addition decorated at the time. Other people include Jonathan Dennis, his mother and staff from the National Film archive. They are photographed in a group in front of the meeting house. Also pupils and Jonathan and associates with a group at Ruapehu College. Source of title - Title supplied by the Library Jonathan Dennis established the New Zealand Film Archive. One of the projects undertaken by the archive was the restoration of movie films made in the early 1920s during anthropological expeditions to the Whanganui River funded by the Dominion Museum. Jonathan and his staff were in Ohakune to show the newly restored films at Ruapehu College. Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s).

Description: Eleven prints: three of Waiomiti pa site in New Plymouth which is now partly covered by the Redixmixt Concrete Co; three of Rewarewa pa site near the Waiwakaiho River one of which shows R Allan standing next to an ancient cabbage tree; two of a Maori burial and pa site next to what is now Clemow Road, New Plymouth, one of which shows Mr Bishop, whose garden is adjacent to the site, next to a gravestone; Paritutu showing the chemical works which is now on the land next to it; the dismantling of Poutama carved house at Karatia (Galatea) on the Whanganui River in the summer of 1967/1968. The carvings were taken to Koroniti and the rest was to be moved to another site; the old house at Te Marua captioned that it was later remodelled by someone called Molloy and photographed by James Chapman-Taylor. Description: Photographic prints of images from three rolls of film, taken by Judith Binney between May and Oct 1995. Photographs were taken at a range of locations in New Zealand, particularly Ratana/Parewanui/Aorangi areas and the East Coast. A few taken at Hokianga Island, Bay of Plenty and there is a set of 10 Binney has identified as 'Hokianga & Ohiwa, Te Karaka' (these may be Hokianga Island area in the Ohiwa Harbour). Also some images also taken during a trip to Sydney, Australia, mainly buildings excavations at Susannah Place. Also a set showing the special flax paper cases, made by Maureen Lander (and possibly also J Bassett - as both feature in the images), for Binney's book 'Redemption Songs'. Also a snap of Binney, and another two showing Binney and an unidentified woman.
