Pencilled additions, probably added at a later date, include a note stating 'Rawson surveyed', the position of Letts subdivision and the site of the residence of Mr. Cameron. Surname of Mrs. Jeune included in map title has been crossed out and replaced with Mrs. Jeans, at a later date. Likely to be Emma Jeans. Description: Sketch plan of a subdivision for Mr Perry of part of Penrose Estate, located on the Taratahi Plain Block (8), Tiffen Survey District, immediately south of Masterton. Shows the Waingawa River, southwest to East Taratahi Road, and five surveyed sections between these points, of between 123 and 140 acres each. Sections are numbered in pencil from 1 to 5, and priced between 12 and 15 pounds. Shows terrace on section one and the Penrose homestead on adjacent property. Shows several unnamed roads on the circumference of the properties, unnamed, that are probably State Highway 2 (Main Road), Hughes Line and Cornwall Road. Pencilled note on map: 'Will sell the block sec 1.2.3.4.5 @ £13 all round'. Pencil annotations on map such as calculations. Map originally drawn in pencil, then mostly inked, but process not finished. Description: Cadastral map of section 8 and parts of sections 3 and 7 in the Wairarapa Survey District. Section 8 includes a right of way, boundary measurements, sheepyards and sites of buildings. Sections 3 & 7 adjoin the road from Kahutara to Te Maire and include acreages. Section 3 includes the note 'Two paddocks agreed to be sold are here. This is the strip one chain wide, [signature] Fred Pearce, 12/10/06'. Fred Pearce sold some of his land when he was bankrupt to Ernest Knight. Description: Cadastral map of numerous numbered sections, Lots 2 and 4, with acreages and measurements, of the estate of C. A. Pownall, between South Road, Donald Street and High Street, Masterton. Some sections are marked as sold and include prices in pounds sterling. Sites of houses are marked, some residences include owners' names of Gordon, Pownall, Devonport, Duncan. The site of Wyatt's Store is marked at the junction of Kurupuni Lane and South Road. Includes Vivian Street and directions are given for Carterton and Masterton. The second map is a locality plan of the area from King Street to Vivian Street. The post office, school and fishponds are marked. Map has been trimmed on right hand edge cutting off part of the date underneath the signature of Alfred P. Rawson. Includes measurements and prices in pounds sterling which correspond with the attached list on Chennell's notepaper. The Makoura Creek is named. A line, prominently marked, appears to be a fenceline but is not referred to in either a key or notes. Sites of houses are marked in few sections. Names include Miss Cole, H. Cole, Pickering, Richards, Temple, Galway, F. Maunsell, Campbell, K. Chapman, Richards, Sutton, Townsend. Description: Topographic and cadastral map of Clifton, Pahiatua from the Pahiatua Railway Station to the Mangatainoka Railway Station, Mangatainoka Central Road and Main Road. A reference key refers to tenure of freehold and leasehold land, also acreages of sections and paddocks. Additional pencilled notes in some freehold sections include a number for each section and the acreage. Notes in the reference key state that the leasehold land is comprised of Education Reserve and Wellington Corporation Reserve with references to improvement clauses. Includes the road and railway line towards Woodville, and the site of a railway crossing. Bridges are shown on the Mangatainoka River. Includes butter factories, a school, hotel, post offfice, Bank of New South Wales, Bank of New Zealand, and sale yards, yards and dip. The direction towards Mangahao and Palmerston is given, also to Balance. Includes two sections of leasehold land on the road to Makuri, adjacent to Main Road. Sites of some homesteads are given and owners' names are: Walker, Marsh, Page, Lloyd, C. Beetham, Abraham and Williams. The enlargement is of part of the two sections on the road to Makuri, adjacent to Main Road, showing the sites of farm buildings. The note 'Plan of homestead' is written across the enlargement, but buildings listed are: dwelling, wash-house, wood and fowl shed, tool and trap shed, hay shed, bull shed, also the woolshed - cow shed - stable. Title of the enlargement supplied by cataloguer and is a combination of information taken from a pencilled note on bottom right which states: Mr. C.
