Description: Opens with views of the site of the Arapuni Hydro scheme and the Paturuahine Gorge which was flooded to form Lake Arapuni. This is followed by images of the repairs to the one of the water channels that took place in 1932. The rest are photographs of the dam at various stages of construction, the dam completed, views of the new lake, water flowing over the spillway, and the Arapuni falls created below the dam Two views of Atiamuri show the Pohaturoa Rock in the background Ten images of Stewart's Claim, a location south of Okarito, show scenic views some with gold dredging equipment lying around, a beach and a river estuary on which is a barge loaded with pipes. Eight images record before and after effects of controlled blasting on a limestone bluff at Cobden Quarry, Greymouth, photographed on the 15th of January, 1932 The last section are views of the construction of the Waitaki Hydro, and the new Lake Waitaki. Description: Album containing 1928 souvenir booklet celebrating New Zealand's first Commerce Train, which travelled through Auckland Province between 26th October 1928 and 4th November 1928. Souvenir number of the Commerce Train News, published by New Zealand Railways. Bound in with the book are photographs taken by an unidentified passenger on the trip. There are photographs in the booklet, which include several portraits of men on the trip, photographs of farmland, dairy factories, cement works, Arapuni Hydroelectric works showing the dam and the spillway, kauri forests, trains and cars, and group photographs of the personnel. Full lists of personnel are included in the book. Other - Photographs possibly taken by Robert Angus, manager of Cook & Son, Shortland St., Auckland, who was a member of the tour. Description: Album of newspaper and magazine cuttings, black and white photographs, and prints of colour illustrations. Mostly connected with New Zealand native trees, and the timber industry. There are pages dealing with different native trees, and then with the various processes involved in felling the trees; transportation, including horse-drawn, logging railways, and water-born timber using dams; and timber mills. On page [7] of this album there are three personal photographs taken by John Logan Campbell from his home in Parnell, used as Christmas cards in 1900 and 1901; on page [27] is a print of a photograph originally taken by Albert Percy Godber, showing a poster in Maori warning against carelessness in lighting fires in the bush (see full information about the original, in the record at APG-1454-1/4-G).
