Places visited include: the Royal New Zealand Air Force at Wigram airport, Canterbury University, the view over Lyall Bay from Truby King's house, Dunedin war memorial and the war memorial at Waitaki Boys' High School, Government House in Wellington. Description: 8 images of hotels including one of Porirua Hotel in the distance beyond a scattering of houses, a small church and a Shell station. Three are of a bad tram accident at the corner of Webb Street and Taranaki Street where a Thorndon tram went right through the premises adjacent to the Napier-Wellington Transport Co Ltd. Police and passers-by are looking on and workmen are trying to clear the debris. The last image is of what may be a nurses' hostel at Wellington Hospital. Photographer unidentified. Description: Photographs of and relating to the Wilson family ex Eketahuna. William M Wilson was born in Glasgow in 1868, coming to New Zealand when 8 years of age. He was apprenticed to John Fitchett, coach builder in Wellington, then with other firms including Rouse & Hurrell. He was employed by Wilfred Woolf in Eketahuna in 1894, and subsequently bought his business, and entered the firm of Kibblewhite and Wilson. See Cyclopedia of New Zealand, Wellington Provincial District, Eketahuna. Includes dwellings; carriages; group outings and portraits; 1 of the Club Hotel of F D Pelling; 3 of the Ryan family at Tawa Flat; 1 of a house at Island Bay, 1 of a thatched whare at Plimmerton, a Ghuznee St boarding house; 2 relating to the Burnett family; 2 scenes in Manakau; 1 of D A Greenlees store; 2 of Rarotanga; 2 relating to the business of Lyon & Blair, steam printers and lithographers; 1 of a group outside a house in Eastbourne; 3 relating to the Manson family; 1 of a military camp in New Zealand in preparation for the South African War. Description: A view from Charlotte Street (lower Molesworth Street) looking out to Wellington Harbour, with the side and back of Barrett's Hotel on the far left and the back of another house, 'the raupo house' in the centre. A flagstaff flying the Union Jack is alongside the near wall of Barrett's Hotel Copy of a wash drawing 'Barrett's Hotel, Port Nicholson' owned by the Royal Society Tasmania, and held in the collection of the Tasmanian Art Gallery and Museum, Hobart The 'raupo house' had a roof made of raupo and was said to be the first house built on Thorndon Beach (Thorndon Quay).
