Description: A collection of postcards and printed views (possibly from a magazine) of New Zealand scenes primarily of towns and cities rather than scenic views. They include one of two Maori women washing clothes at Rotorua, another of the Royal visit in 1927 and a family group of seven men and three women possibly taken in Belfast. A number of the postcards have been used. Also included are five original photographs which have been captioned with the family connections: a soldier in uniform, possibly named Ralph Ferguson; Uncle Henry Babe's wedding photograph; cousin Violet Bradford in America; Albert and Elizabeth (Eliza) Babe (brother and sister) and four others; Thomas and Fanny Babe (grandpa and grandma) with Eliza, Harold, Albert, Olivia, Queenie and Gladys. Description: Cadastral map of numerous numbered sections, Lots 2 and 4, with acreages and measurements, of the estate of C. A. Pownall, between South Road, Donald Street and High Street, Masterton. Some sections are marked as sold and include prices in pounds sterling. Sites of houses are marked, some residences include owners' names of Gordon, Pownall, Devonport, Duncan. The site of Wyatt's Store is marked at the junction of Kurupuni Lane and South Road. Includes Vivian Street and directions are given for Carterton and Masterton. The second map is a locality plan of the area from King Street to Vivian Street. The post office, school and fishponds are marked. Map has been trimmed on right hand edge cutting off part of the date underneath the signature of Alfred P. Rawson. Sections 4, 6 and 7 include a site of a house, blacksmith's shop and shed. Includes Chapel, Crayne, Queen and High Streets, South Road and Waltons Avenue. Walton's Estate is adjacent to the Pybus Estate. A river runs through two sections and through a section marked 'Trust Land, Trust property'. Description: Survey map with cadastral information, between part of High Street and Kings Crescent, and including Marina Grove, Lower Hutt, an area totalling over 63 acres. Shows plan of new subdivisions as a result of a closed road, and three proposed new roads. Subdivisions are all surveyed and numbered with acreage. Includes a diagram of easements. The longest proposed road and the short Crescent were to become Kings Crescent and Marina Grove respectively. The road between Kings Crescent and High Street was never constructed. Annotations were added to map before copying, such as 1952 note with reference to ST Dibble, surveyor. Map was signed by district supervisor of Housing Construction and by chief surveyor 1951. Includes reference table to lot numbers (difficult to decipher). Description: Album of photographs taken by James Valentine & Sons, circa 1880s-1900s. Most of the images have a caption printed into the photograph, and many also have a hand-written caption beneath. At some point many of the photographs have been removed from their slots, and others have been placed in the wrong slot so that the subject and caption on the photograph does not match with the caption below. Places are listed above. There are five photographs of Maori, three of women, two of chiefs. The names given are difficult to identify, having complicated spelling, and the captions on photographs have faded in some cases. They include "Maori wahine Ngareti"; "Maori chief Hoera Watene"; "Maori chiefs Panapa Tenihotiti and Topopoki" and "Maori wahine Huihana?".
