Description: Twenty letters to his family written from Cambridge, Palmerston North, Wanganui, and some from Dalethorpe Station, Kowai Pass, Canterbury. Details of domestic and farm life; also comments on relationships with Maori and on arrival of Te Kooti in the Waikato. Letter 18 Dec 1901 comments very unfavourably on quality of relationship between England and New Zealand. A group of people, including small children, are sitting and standing near by. The sea and a coastline can be seen in the distance. Recently plough ground is in the immediate foreground.
