Description: Comprises photographs of jazz musicians and related subjects taken by Dennis Huggard, the Auckland Star and unknown photographers. Most images date from 1992-2000, but also includes several prints from the 1950s-1960s. Three ca.1960s images show unknown jazz bands performing on stage, with instruments including piano, drums, bass and trumpet. One image shows Nat King Cole working with Crombie Murdoch in 1955. Other images of jazz musicians were taken at New Zealand jazz festivals in the 1992-2000 period, including the National Jazz Festival (1992-1993, 1996, 1999), Manawatu Jazz Festival (2000), Bay of Islands Jazz Festival (1997). Further photographs were taken at jazz clubs and other events. Includes images of jazz musicians and singers performing at the following New Zealand festivals: Bay of Islands Jazz Festival (1997-1998, 2000), Hamilton Traditional Jazz Festival (1992-1993), Manawatu Jazz Festival (1998-2001), National Jazz Festival (1992-1999, 2001), Rotorua Jazz Festival (1995-1996) and Whangarei Jazz Festival (1999, 2001). Also photographs of audiences, venues, band stands and festival banners. Also images related to the Huggard Trophy for Best First Year Performance Band. Includes photographs of the trophy and of it being awarded at the National Jazz Festival (1997). Also of the winners in 1997 (Northcross Intermediate) and 1999 (New Plymouth Boys' High School Stage Band).
