Description: Contains diary entries describing McLean's land purchase activities at Ahuriri, and his meetings with Maori owners. There are descriptions of the Ahuriri plains, which clearly impressed McLean - `How happy I would feel, were I possessed of flocks and herds, and the means of settling on 10,000 acres of these plains'. He was accompanied for much of these travels with the Ngati Kahungunu Chief Te Hapuku, who acted in an agent-like role. He also spent some time with the missionary William Colenso. There are detailed descriptions of negotiations for the Ahuriri and Waipukurau blocks. Includes notes written in Maori Other - Transcription in MS-1286 Quantity: 1 volume(s).
