Description: Topographic map of 2559 acres of the Taupo Swamp includes part of the coastline and the land behind. Adjoining areas are marked as Crown Land, Motuhara and Haukopua East, both of which were surveyed by Wyles and Buck. An area has been pencilled as Native Reserve. Streams are marked, Taupo and Hokiku Creeks are named. Bearings have been checked, some added, while discrepancies have been noted. The Motuhara Plan is referred to in connection with boundaries. Note adjacent to title states: S.O.W. 509 [Survey of Wellington 509] Numerous statements of certification include the signatures and names of the following: W.S. Buck, I Rogan, Mr. Jackson, Mr Kensington for Inspector of Surveys, Mr Dickey, Percy Frasi. Number at bottom right of map: 3134 Quantity: 1 manuscript map(s). Description: Drawn on a survey template, the cadastral map shows part of section 3, Pito-one (later Petone), sections numbers 10 and numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 of section 10. Smaller sections are surveyed and show acreage. Note on map reads 'The boundaries were pointed out by Pakitaurae - Apiaka Renata, Heni Ihaka and Rangiwhaia who also instructed me to make the survey' written by O'Donahoo. Sections 1-4 face The Esplanade. Written on section 8 is 'W[orks] D[epartment] 939. Also written on map is 'Crown Grant 9G97, Hutt 3' and 'Deeds Index 3/9'. Signed by Chief Engineer. Description: Topographic map of the area from the Wanganui River near Petania, includes parts of the Ongarue River and Main Trunk Line, the Punui and Waikato rivers, Lakes Taupo and Rotoaira. Names of rivers, some mountain ranges and settlements are included. Rohe Potae (i.e. King Country) land, in the Taupo Ruapehu districts, claimed by the Ngati Maniapoto and that awarded to Ngati Tuwharetoa are divided by a boundary line and referred to in key. 'Maniapoto' and 'Tuwharetoa' are written across their respective land. Description: Manuscript plan surveyed by A F Browne, dated 4 February [18]97. Refers to an application by Ihaia Waewae and others regarding the following land blocks and sub blocks: Tahoraiti no. 1 and 2 (with acreage), Te Wakeroa, Ōmataroa, Te Piha, Takirioteorohata and Kairauaruhe. The blocks border each side of the main road from Napier to Wellington, adjacent to the Forty Mile Bush on one side and the Oringi Plain on the other. Several Māori placenames are indicated. Signed RJ ?Searle, 6/2/[18]97. (Name difficult to decipher). Map has been stored folded. Written on verso is 'Tahoraiti nos. 1 & 2.' Other Titles - and some others Quantity: 1 manuscript map(s). Description: Survey map of Waikawa, Otaki, from the sea, southwards to Waitohu government trig, westwards to Pukehou government trig and Hanawera, and northwards of the Waikawa River to an unnamed pa site near Okau. Depicts Te Rauparaha's Pa (68 acres) next to the Waikawa River, Te Kotai (13 acres), and three Crown land grants - Huritini (1024 acres) to Manahi, an unspecified grant to Rawiri Wanui, as well as Hakeri No. 6F, granted to J and R Ransfield. Several Maori place names are shown, including Wakahoro and Ketemaringi. Contains several pencil annotations regarding numerical survey detail, including a circumference of figures around an unnamed point near Te Motu peak. Includes a reference chart of 191 lines with bearings and distances. Note on map 'I certify ... Description: Surveying map of the area from Anapaura around the coastline, past Titai Bay, now known as Titahi Bay, and including part of the Porirua Harbour near the entrance. Urukahika Creek is marked. Includes numerous Maori placenames. Refers to boundaries of property belonging to Ellison. The name Hughes is recorded in connection with a boundary peg. Some areas of land include boundaries, names and acreages as follows: Koangaaumu 329 acres, Hira Te Aratangata, transmitted 30th May 1873. S.O.W.454, followed by the name of G. Description: Surveying map of Tahoramaurea and Tokomapuna Islands and part of Kapiti Island from Ohoko to Te Rere on the eastern side and Maraetakaroro to Te Oneroa on the western side. Includes numerous Maori placenames and notes referring to land claims, such as Kapiti claim No. 2 claimed by Hare Rewette and others. Kaiwharawhara West No. 3 claimed by J. Cootes and others. Rangatira Kapiti No. 4, 1635 acres, claimed by Tamihana te Rauparaha and others. Ngatitoa are referred to in a note about a removal of a [surveying] pole. Creeks are named and the Tuteremoana government trig station is marked. Numerous pencilled notes appear to have been added later. A rough sketch in pencil has been added to part of Kapiti Island to the south of the area drawn by the surveyor, marked as Te Mingi, labelled as Crown Land, granted to David Brown Esqre. Other acreages are: Te Whi Whi and Rakapau 751 acres. Tamiahana Te Ruaparaha, H'oue Te Okorokutia 751 acres. Small blocks of land with boundaries include names: 73 acres Wi Parata, 50 acres Ngatitoa. Handwritten note on verso states: Kapiti plans. Messrs Wyles & Buck, May 1872 Note on bottom left states: Transmitted to the Chief Surveyor of the Province of Wellington this 13th day of May, 1872.
