Description: Cadastral map of two lots with acreages and boundary measurements on Seatoun Heights Road. Includes a twenty foot wide right of way to a back section and a twenty foot wide reserve from the Wellington City Council reservoir. The annotation to this base map is the addition of colourwash to highlight the sections. The second map is a locality plan of the area from Scots College and Monorgan Road to Miramar South School and Park Road. Includes the Pass of Branda, Marine Parade and Awa Street. A library is marked on Broadway, includes sites of a quarry, reservoir, a convent and Roman Catholic School, an Anglican Church and nearby residence, a Presbyterian Church, tennis courts and bowling green, a school, Beacon Hill Signal Station Reserve, Military Reserve, Seatoun Park, Seatoun Wharf, Telegraph Reserve, Worser Bay. Streets are named and the route of the tramway is marked. The annotation to this map is the position of the land for sale on Seatoun Heights Road. Map accompanied by a copy of a typewritten letter dated 11th January 1937, from H. Gyles Turner of the Wellington Harbour Board, Chief Engineer's office to Gordon Harcourt, 153-155 Featherston Street, Wellington. The content of the letter refers to the accompanying plans and the varying prices for the sections. Reference is made to the location on the Seatoun side of the hill, includes details of shelter from the winds, and refers to the exceptional view. In three cases these are signed E N Webster, who advises that he arrived in Wellington 5 February 1918, and left 15 June 1922. During this period, as well as photographing Wellington and district, he travelled on holiday to New Zealand cities and tourist destinations. The photographs were taken between 1919 and 1921 judging from the prints that have dates. His second name was Norman, and this is the name he used to sign letters on postcards sent from Christchurch in 1919 to his mother, and a friend called May. There is also a note attached to an illustration of Ben Lomond in the collection on which he signs himself Norman Webster. Information on the back of postcards indicate that he came from Australia, and in 1916 lived at Nambour, Queensland. Quantity: 150 b&w original photographic print(s).

Description: Views of wellington, some of its principle streets, and in particular some of the new buildings constructed in the late 1950s and 1960s. General views of the city taken from Mount Victoria and the harbour shoreline show the central city and give views of the waterfront and parts of the Town Belt. There are coastal localities such as Kau Bay and Wellington heads, a view of Rongotai and the Airport, and a view across the southern Hutt Valley looking west. Another group of images relate to forests and forestry. These include land clearance, stands of Pinus radiata, machines moving logs, and a fire engine. Others record a trip in the South Island, possibly the West Coast. There are views of hills covered in native forest, rivers, lakes and mountains. One group of images were taken in Rajasthan, India. These include towns, palaces, fortifications, temples, and the Taj Mahal. Photographed by Martin Shute in the 1950s and 1960s Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s).
