Photographs in the North Island include tours between Stratford and Ongarue; Ngaruawahia celebrations in 1938 (including views of King Koroki's house which was built in 1938); Rotorua and six lakes trip; and opening ceremonies for the Hutt Railway. On board the ship are some figures firing at the helicopter trying to bring it down. On the runway the mayors of Christchurch and Wellington are leaping up and down calling "more! more! more!". Michael Fowler is holding a paper in his hand which reads 'Govt. development plan of W'gton airport'. Extended Title - Christchurch. May 27 (PA). - Christchurch city councillors lashed out today at the Government - and specially the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) - over the channelling of money away from Christchurch Airport. Description: Panoramic view of two lines of military biplanes lined up on the ground at Sockburn Aerodrome. They include Bristol F2B Fighters, Avro 504K, De Havilland DH.9 and DH.4 airplanes. An unidentified woman wearing a coat and cloche hat in standing in front of the plane on the left. Hangars in the middle distance on the right, and groups of people near the hangars. Possibly relates to the establishment of a permanent NZ Air Force at Sockburn after Henry Wigram signed over the assets of the Canterbury Aviation Company to the government.
