Description: Kaitaia Hospital undergoing reconstruction after the building had been moved from Mangonui, where it had formerly been the Mangonui County Memorial Hospital. Among the people shown are Sister Olsen (at the left of the group of four nurses), Philip Webber, foreman (to her left), Mr Proven, moving contractor (between the two groups of nurses), William Atkins, chairman of hospital committee (3d from right) and Matron Black (2d from right). Photograph taken in 1934 by Arthur Northwood of Kaitaia. The removal of the building from Mangonui commenced on 19 January 1934. It was re-opened in Kaitaia in September 1934.
