At top left is a small map dividing the city into Ponsonby Ward, North Ward, South Ward, East Ward, Karangahape Ward and Grafton Ward, and telling how many tolls indicates each ward. Along the top is a frieze showing a rabbit, a kiwi and two pixies. There are decorated columns down the sides and a cicular logo of the club at lower centre, showing a star, two hands shaking, and the motto "Be loyal". Description: A Gillespie won prizes for begonias, fine foliage plants, primulas, table bouquets, and cut flowers. The 1875 cards are lithographed by W C Wilson, Auckland, and the 1880 card is lithographed by Herald litho. Note from a descendant, Jean Erbacher (28 October 2008), indicates that A Gillespie is likely to have been Mr Alexander Gillespie, the head gardener at Government House in Auckland at that time.
