Description: Reports, correspondence and printed papers on the electric production industry, especially on the construction of the Wairakei geothermal power plant. Also includes report on the electrification of Auckland commuter railways. The reports were authored by Merz and McaLellan. Source of title - Supplied Mr Richardson returned to New Zealand in 1954 as the resident New Zealand civil and electrical engineer for the British consultancy firm of Merz and McLellan on the Wairakei Geothermal Project. Images include the ceremony 'topping off' Rutherford House in Wellington (the Electricity Department's new Head Office building) with General Manager Eric Mackenzie and Minister of Electricity Les Gandar, Palmerston North Training Centre, a New Zealand Electricity Department notice about "The Rogue Bore" (at Wairakei thermal field), a site for the proposed 'Auckland no. 1' thermal power station, celebration of the Mangahao jubilee, system control at Islington substation, the Nelson office of the NZED, Benmore village, a Linemen Training School (location not specified), and scenes labelled "Meremere" that appear to be at Meremere school.
