Description: Land clearance and development projects during the 1950s. Photographs show examples of techniques and machinery used for bringing in land such as rolling and crushing scrub and using cattle to crush and clear lupins. Much of the land developed for agriculture during this period was pumice land. There is a slide sequence designed to show methods for establishing pasture on this particular soil type, and a number of other slides showing the finished product -- productive farms in the Rotorua area. Landblocks named in this collection are, Newstead Block, "Rushden" Waipukurau, Lynwood F. S., and Okahukura Block.
