Description: Photographs taken during the Duke of Gloucester's tour 1934-1935 featuring the Duke at a number of social and formal events: with another man horse riding at a race course; with another man starting a trotting race; arriving at Marton race course with, from left, Hon Young, Mr H J McManawy and T R Duncan with a policeman and others behind them next to their car; in racing silks and jodphurs and holding a horse whip with his host Mr T A Duncan, holding binoculars, and another unidentified man; on Black Man and C L Bull on Red Flush during a race at Marton; with two other men on a small motor boat, the Duke holding a fishing a rod and one of the men a fish; leaping across a glacial stream; with two others on a glacier holding poles and ice axes; in uniform talking to veterans wearing their medals; inspecting a parade of naval seamen; talking to Viscount Bledisloe at a garden party; a three quarter length profile of him holding his top hat at the same event; and saluting the crowds from a carriage when leaving the war memorial in Wellington. Photographers were W G Weigel, V A Stapleton, and E T Robson. Black Man (Race horse) was ridden by Duke of Gloucester at Marton races in 1934. Quantity: 13 b&w original photographic print(s). Description: Outward correspondence from Eric Tyndale-Biscoe to his parents Cecil Earl and Blanche Violet chiefly on the topic of a motoring and camping trip he made around the North Island of New Zealand. Letters include description of train travel, camping, trout fishing, driving and road conditions (including other traffic, punctures, getting bogged down, and pot holes), huts "swaggers whare", Waitomo Caves and glow worms, Maori history, manuka, tui birds, and swimming in lakes and rivers. Places he visits include Mokoia, Awakino, Te Kuiti, Waitomo, Hamilton, Tauranga, Whakatane, Opotiki, Gisborne, Lake Waikaremoana, Wairoa, Lake Tutira, and Napier. Also talks about staying in with the Reeves family [Hastings? Havelock North?], teaching, and preparation for his departure from New Zealand. Description: Album of photographs relating to hunting, shooting and fishing in the Waikato and Canterbury areas of New Zealand. The only scenery is seen in photographs of the Rotorua district, showing photographs of trout fishing, both from boats in Lake Rotorua, and fly fishing in rivers in the area. A number of iomages show fishermen with large catches of either brown trout or rainbow trout. Other views show a large number of deer trophies with the number of points on the antlers; duck decoys, and large catches of duck; a wild boar trophy; and two views of wild goat (possibly tahr) trophies. Three by Marton photographers (Neville's wife's family came from Marton. Her mother's maiden name was Nicol). One by Henry Billens that possibly shows a household dramatic group. Two by Bell Brothers: a portrait of young women, possibly a school group with their teacher. It is labelled "Etta Nuttall. Winter 5 Harry St Tauranga (Henderson)". The other Bell Brothers image (damaged) shows the opening of the Marton Bowling Club Season, October 10, 1906. 15 images taken circa 1940s-1960s relating to Neville Mosen, his wife, their families and friends, including ones at the Mangawhero River and the Mangaturuturu Falls and one of Neville and wife Vera on the front step of their first home in Raetihi. One of a group outside 'Norian' the beehive house in New Plymouth taken circa early 1960s. Seven of a trip made by Neville to Western Australia in the 1960s. Includes images of a car packed for a journey trip and exteriors of hotels he stayed in. Other - Information in square brackets on back of some images was provided by Neville's son Brian.
