Description: Research notes, drafts, clippings, photographs, and other material relating to shipping, especially vessels belonging to the Union Steam Ship Company, those associated with Wellington Harbour and with coastal shipping. There is also material on Auckland Harbour, research notes and material on Wanganui river steamers, and on Wellington Harbour reclamations, the harbour ferries and the Wellington tramway system. Research notes, clippings and drafts relating to `Early New Zealand steamers, Vol II' (unpublished). Source of title - Supplied Mr Wilkinson, a journalist for the Wellington Evening Post, served as shipping reporter. He was also a marine photographer and had an interest in Wellington history. Description: Album of views of Picton (including visit of Governor Ranfurly and New Year celebrations); Waimakariri, Broken River (including a workmens's camp) and Otarama from the Midland Railway; Cable Bay (including telegraph staff); Wakapuaka (including native bush); Nelson; Rai Falls; Wellington (showing decorations for the visit of the Duke and Duchess of York, 1901); Dunedin (including Larnach's Castle); Masterton (showing earthquake damage to Post Office); Manawatu Gorge Bridge; Wanganui; Taihape; Hamurana Springs; Rotorua; and meeting house at Te Ore Ore. Description: Electric tram with driver and conductors in uniform, Wanganui, circa 1920. Looks towards one end of the tram showing its destination as being the Wanganui East Railway Station. The driver is at the wheel and two conductors are standing on the road alongside. Posters on the front of the tram advertise the "Discharged Soldiers Settlement.
