The photographs appear to have come from these families.

Description: The diary covers from 1 Jun 1893 to 1 Sep 1894 and includes a voyage Herries made on the `Kaikoura' to New Zealand to visit his brother, William, of Te Aroha. Herries made almost daily entries and during his working week he noted when he was in chambers, who he dealt with, and especially recorded social occasions He left for NZ on 20 July 1893, reaching Hobart 1 Sep and NZ 6 Sep, and returned to England on 20 Jan 1894 on the `Mararoa' to Sydney and the `Ville de la Ciotat' to Marseilles, arriving there 2 Mar and returning overland to England. Description: This map covers the area from Maungatautari Mountain and the upper reaches of River Waikato to the mouth of the River Waihou entering the Firth of Thames, and including Tauranga Harbour. Settlements, pa, mountain ranges, rivers, streams and lakes are marked, as are numerous sites of fights accompanied by a record of numbers killed. The Te Aroha block is prominently shaded as are adjacent areas which appear to be jointly claimed by Ngatihaua and Ngaiterangi. Boundaries of other Maori land are marked by dotted lines, some of which are named as follows:- Ngatiraukawa lands, Ngatihaua lands, Ngaiterangi lands, Hauraki lands, Waikato lands. Limits of the scale of this map have been marked with red pencil to allow for changes in size during photocopying. The orientation of this map faces south.
