Description: Elevated view looking down on a stream which meanders over a flat area. On the left of the photograph the stream flows through a covered structure (Lofley's Baths?) and becomes faster flowing. Standing beside the stream at this point is a Maori. Several other buildings and structures can be seen in the area (one appears to be a frame of a house) with a small storehouse on a pole nearby. Description: Shows a waterfall, perhaps the lower part of the Waihi Falls, near Lake Taupo. The image on the following page is of the upper falls of the Waihi Falls, Taupo. (See Crawford's "Recollections of travel in New Zealand and Australia ...", London, Trubner, 1880. page 139). A note says that the falls must be viewed in two views rather than just one. Therefore this image may be of the lower part of the Waihi Falls.
