Description: Shows a view along the Wellington shoreline, looking north. Part of Barrett's Hotel is shown on the extreme left, beside a classical revival building. There are shops in the distance. A red-coated soldier leans against the door to Barrett's Hotel. A small rowboat is in the sea to the right of the road Title on engraved plate on frame. Artist attributed because of similarity of subject to Holmes' "Wellington Beach 1856" (A-032-040). The work is not as finished as that one however. Quantity: 1 watercolour(s). Description: View of Wellington Harbour looking down Boulcott Street. Houses can be seen on one side of Boulcott Street and down towards the harbour. The building which housed the Star Boating Club is on the foreshore on the right of the tall chimney. The building with the tower is the Marist Brother's School, built 1876. Photograph taken by the Tyree Brothers in the 1890s. The inscription on this photograph says that the view is looking down Hill Street, which is in Thorndon, but it is actually Boulcott Street. Description: Shows a view of Wellington and Wellington Harbour as far as the Hutt Valley. The view includes the Terrace and Terrace prison, the streets and buildings of Oriental Bay and Te Aro on the flat, including gasometers, chimneys and churches (St John's and St Peter's Willis Street), the houses on Mount Victoria, Somes Island. Three cows and a calf are attended by a man with a staff, in the foreground. The image is similar to that at C-030-025, "[Te Aro and Wellington Harbour]", but extends further on either side. The scale is very similar, but the images of the buildings are not identical. Unlike most other Aubrey works held in the Library, both of these pictures use some gum arabic in the foreground. Inscriptions: Recto - bottom left - C Aubrey 1888 Very similar to C-030-025, "[Te Aro and Wellington Harbour]", but includes detail on both sides missing in Te Aro and Wellingon Harbour. Unlike most other Aubrey works held by the Library, this work uses some gum arabic in the foreground. Quantity: 1 watercolour(s). Physical Description: Watercolour and gum arabic, 531 x 918 mm.
