Description: Photograph album of views of Wellington, ranging from copies of early paintings from the 1840s, and early photographs up to the 1870s, to a series of postcards from the 1920s. Most of the early images have clear descriptions, giving year made, location, and in some cases further information about buildings that can be seen. For example, one view shows Kebble's house, now the site of the Grand Opera House. Views in the postcards are identified, but no dates are given. Description: View of Wellington Harbour looking down Boulcott Street. Houses can be seen on one side of Boulcott Street and down towards the harbour. The building which housed the Star Boating Club is on the foreshore on the right of the tall chimney. The building with the tower is the Marist Brother's School, built 1876. Photograph taken by the Tyree Brothers in the 1890s. The inscription on this photograph says that the view is looking down Hill Street, which is in Thorndon, but it is actually Boulcott Street.
