Description: Shows beach at Sumner, looking east towards Cave Rock and Scarborough Head. Two boats stand off the shore. The scene is lit by moonlight Previously entitled "The Sumner River, Canterbury, from the Christchurch Road. Dating suggested from the date on "The Sumner River, Canterbury, from the Cave Rock" by the same artist (A-027-016) There is no geographical feature known as the Sumner River.
