The last part of the diary has been lost and the entries cover the period 1 Aug-20 Oct 1874; the Waitangi arrived at Auckland on 17 Nov 1874. Also copy of the Macdermott's passenger contract ticket. Description: Arrangement of text on a ticket. The name of the person permitted to travel on the ticket is handwritten in the space provided, but is illegible on this ticket. Anyone using the ticket if not the designated passenger "shall be liable to imprisonment, with or without hard labour, for any term not exceeding two months, or to a fine not exceeding ten pounds". The ticket has been clipped once, at top right. It is also stamped in two places: the number 466 at top right; and date stamp 1926 at top left. Quantity: 1 b&w photo-mechanical print(s). Description: Photographs chiefly taken by Murray Francis Vincent (1944-2008) and his father Stanley Raymond Vincent (d 1991) in the 1960s and 1980s. Additionally, two images are identified as being taken by W R Button. - Contains aviation images predominantly from the 1980s at Wellington Airport. These feature freight, air and military planes. Fieldair Freight, Air New Zealand, Ansett New Zealand, Qantas, James Air, SAFE Air, and Royal New Zealand Air Force planes are seen in flight and parked on the tarmac. Another image shows unidentified aviation workers. - Contains images from the 1960s relating to radio production and broadcast, and the training of radio technicians. The bulk of photographs feature the participants of a New Zealand Broadcasting Company training course in March-May 1964 and Aug 1966 course (course numbers 105 and 106, `B' and level III); social scenes feature participants of program at hostel accommodation (Auckland YMCA) and also contains group portraits. Many trainees are named on the back of the prints. Includes images of the maintenance of radio infrastructure at Mt Misery and Whakupanuki. Broadcasting House, Wellington, with staff (some named), equipment, and various studios featured (including National Program suite). Shows a rat on the lap of a first class air traveller. The air hostess reassures the woman that they only have cochroches in economy class. Refers to Air New Zealand's cut back of onboard services. Public comment on the Lottery Board. Some wish Jim Anderton could be on the board to balance the National Party members, others discuss the necessity of $500,000 per year to run the Lotto.. Violence in East Timaor gets directed toward the media who give up and go home. Jenny Shipley shakes hands with President Habibie of Indonesia at the APEC Conference in Auckland. His hands are dripping blood. Dr Cullen has a minder who carries a tranquilliser gun, he uses it on Dr Cullen when needed. The military in East Timor are doing everything they can to stop stories being told of church burnings, lootings and mass killings. The Timor crisis has focused world attention on the APEC Leaders meeting in Auckland. Habibie opens Indonesia to International peace-keepers now that everyone worth killing has been dealt with and everything worth steeling has been stolen. UN peace-keepers in Timor are given well wishes by soldiers past. Pam Corkery regrets that she wasn't a star in the Parliamentary system even though her temperament was perfect for the place. Comment on the hit-and-miss quality of medical care from Gisborne cervical smear specialists and labs. The National Party comes to ACT's Richard Prebble's rescue by not running a candidate in Wellington Central. Prebble is shown as a toothless dog being given a set of teeth by National. Shows the inequity of treatment and remuneration between professional rugby players and peace-keeping troops. Jenny Shipley announces the date of the 1999 General Election to a sleeping audience. The National and Labour Parties say they will concentrate on policy in the election lead-up but infact they focus on their leaders personalities. Description: Arrangement of text, with compartments for clips top and bottom. On school days, the holes have been punched with many differently-shaped punch holes. Text says: "This ticket is issued subject to condition that holder does not occupy a seat when adult passengers are standing in the same compartment". The date "30 Apr 1939" indicates the date after which the ticket is not valid. There are gaps in the ticket punching, indicating that there was no school on 7, 10 11 April, when Good Friday, Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday fell in 1939 (See notice of school holidays in the Wellington District in 1939 in Horowhenua Chronicle, 1 November 1938, page 4). There was also no school on ANZAC Day (25 April). Exhibited in ‘Humble: the life of 100 small objects’, exhibition curated by Barbara Lyon, in the Turnbull Gallery, National Library of New Zealand, 27 August - 17 November 2017.
