Description: Shows a view from a hillside, looking down on a lakeside settlement. There is a house in the right foreground, and a further group of houses around the main road which skirts the water in the middle distance. A steam train at far right runs on a track which goes past a large two-storeyed house near the water. There are sailboats on the water in the distance and hills beyond. There is a line of around a dozen trees planted at the edge of the foreground paddock where a cow and two horses are grazing. There are two sailboats on the lake and hills in the distance. Description: Shows a view of the town from the nearby fields, with the main road from Gore to the left, a side road, All Saints Anglican Church at the far right, and another church on the street at the left. There is a horse in the paddock at the right and a telegraph pole on a lean in the foreground. The town lies on relatively flat land with hills in the background. Thought to be Tapanui by the donor, 1 March 1985. The churches at right and left are similar to the churches in another privately owned work by S E Green entitled "Tapanui". (See file print in Drawings & Prints). Dated from another painting of the town by Green, done in 1881. All Saints Anglican Church in Tapanui was built in 1878 Quantity: 1 watercolour(s).
