Description: Cadastral map, with topographical information, of the Taupo District, showing numbered Maori land blocks. Includes the area from Te Poua Kani, eastwards to Te Kowhatu Whakairo, southwards to the Mohaka River and Mangatainoko, and westwards to Te Kohatu. Land blocks sited include Kaimanawa, Tapapa, Te Matai, Wharetoto, Waikare Mohaka, Runanga, Pohokura, Tauhara, Tauranga, Pukahunui, Kaingaroa, Paeroa, Whakamaru, Maraetai and Okahukura. The land north of Rotoaira and west and northwest of Lake Taupo has not been divided into blocks. The northeastern land blocks have been coloured blue, the southern blocks brown. Description: A copy of a base map of Tongariro timber areas includes state forests and covers the area from the Whakapapa, Wanganui and Taringamutu Rivers to Lake Taupo, Tokaanu and the Waikato River, and the road from National Park to Taupo. A key indicates the ownership by the Crown, Native, Crown & Native, Cut-over, Committed and State Forest, all of which are colour coded. The majority of these forestry blocks are named on the map but some boundaries have been revised and the resulting blocks re-numbered and occasionally named. Some rivers have added tributaries marked. Pencilled annotations include named forestry blocks and their distances from various settlements, blocks reserved from cutting, a site of a proposed communal village. The sites of McKee's Mill and A. Mario's house are marked. The base map includes rivers and streams, main highways and private roads. The Pokaka Timber Company and Ketetahi Smg. Co. are named. Description: The first map is a plan of Turangawaewae Marae, Waikato, showing the pa site, including Turongo House, Mahingarangi House, Kimi-kimi Dining Hall, octagon office, flag poles, recreation grounds and lawns. Arrows from the river road to Hamilton East go through and lead out of the pa. The second map is partly a locality map, but also includes numbered sections, with acreages, west and southwest of Turangawaewae, while arrows show movement through the pa. Description: Three small tents amongst limestone formations, with tall hills in the background, including one with a distinctive limstone pillar on its top. There is a toetoe in the foreground. Shows the site at a small kainga Arohena (Arouena); cf. Taylor's diary entry (in qMs sequence), and same scene in his sketchbook (E-296-q-123-1) The centre of three drawings on the same sheet (418 x 263 mm) with: Waterfall at Hoperiki [Operiki, Whanganui River], and A natural logan rock. The Library holds another rougher version of the same drawing in Taylor's album (E-296-q). It bears the same inscription and date and shows the same limestone rock formations, tall hills, a river and three small tents. Henry Williams; the one on the right for Mr Morgan, who, having slipped into a hole, is being helped out by the native; the two in teh centre for the Rev. A. N. Brown and Dr Fairburn. Description: A base cadastral map of thirty-two numbered sections with acreages and some boundary measurements, in part of the Pukawa land block, owned by Kahu Te Kuru, in the Puketi survey district. The annotation to this map shows the numbered sections outlined as far as the lake's edge. One section is marked for community use (parking). Roads included are Motutaiko Street and Pihanga Road which is noted as formed, metalled and being legalised.
