Description: Men picking cabbages for United States forces stationed in New Zealand during World War 2. Shows a sportsground in Otaki turned over to the production of vegetables. Photograph taken by John Pascoe in 1945. Pascoe caption listed under "New Zealand Crops" reads: "The Services' Vegetable Production was undertaken by the Department of Agriculture in 1942 when existing facilities could not meet the combined demands of civilians and servicemen.
