Description: Contains correspondence, probably draft letters, by McLean in his capacity as the Chief Protector of Aboriginal Affairs about the state of native affairs in the districts of Taranaki (Waitara & Mokau), Whanganui and Taupo. Concerns mainly the question of Maori occupation in the Taranaki region with some brief historical background reports relating to the above areas.
