Description: A base map of the Manawatu River, from MacGregor's Bend to the sea, includes county and district boundary lines. The Moutere and Mt. Robinson Survey Districts are named. Includes areas marked as Reserved for Harbour Board purposes, Papangaio Native Reserve and Signal Station Reserve, all with acreages. The mouth of the river is marked as at 1923. Includes the sites of the pilot station and flgstaffs. Names include Te Awa, Whaiangi, N.W. Park. Description: A copy of a base map of Tongariro timber areas includes state forests and covers the area from the Whakapapa, Wanganui and Taringamutu Rivers to Lake Taupo, Tokaanu and the Waikato River, and the road from National Park to Taupo. A key indicates the ownership by the Crown, Native, Crown & Native, Cut-over, Committed and State Forest, all of which are colour coded. The majority of these forestry blocks are named on the map but some boundaries have been revised and the resulting blocks re-numbered and occasionally named. Some rivers have added tributaries marked. Pencilled annotations include named forestry blocks and their distances from various settlements, blocks reserved from cutting, a site of a proposed communal village. The sites of McKee's Mill and A. Mario's house are marked. The base map includes rivers and streams, main highways and private roads. The Pokaka Timber Company and Ketetahi Smg. Co. are named. Includes the names of Hopkins, Speirs & Winger, C.P. & P.D. Smith, Wier & Kenny, McKee Bros., K.R. Kapoor. A note states that this plan was compiled for reference inspection by S.A.C. Darby, C.T. Description: Plots the Hauhau campaign and Te Kooti campaign from the New Zealand Wars. Shows central North Island and note reads "Land enclosed by yellow is that of the Maori King, boarded by the 'aukati' no European may cross on pain of death". Military engagements and massacres are identified across the map. Massacres are identified at Matawhero, Ohiwa Harbour, Whitecliffs and Waihi. Engagements are identified at Mohaka, Ngaatape, Puketapu, Turanga and Ahikerera Pa on the East Coast and Whakatane districts, and Rauparoa Pa, Otatau, Otoia, Wairou, Moturoa, Ruapuru and Te Ngutu o te Mana (identified as Tito Kowaru's own place). Shows "Nukumaru Pah taken 2 Feb 69". Orange lines represent Colonel Whitmore campaigns eg Campaign of Ngatapa Dec/Jan 1869 (Poverty Bay area), or Oct/Nov 1868 Whanganui area, April/ May 1869 Bay of Plenty area. Small yellow lines represent the New Zealand war battle campaigns by the ers and the New Zealand government against the Maori, especially those led by Colonel Whitmore eg Col. Whitmore's pursuit of prisoners July August 1868, St John's column Apr-May 1869, or Col. Whitmore Jan, Feb, April, May 1869 from Whanganui to New Plymouth. Shows overland road from Napier to Auckland. Some text on map e.g. "Whareongaonga, where the prisoners from the Chatham Islands landed in July 1860."
