Description: Surveying map of the area from Anapaura around the coastline, past Titai Bay, now known as Titahi Bay, and including part of the Porirua Harbour near the entrance. Urukahika Creek is marked. Includes numerous Maori placenames. Refers to boundaries of property belonging to Ellison. The name Hughes is recorded in connection with a boundary peg. Some areas of land include boundaries, names and acreages as follows: Koangaaumu 329 acres, Hira Te Aratangata, transmitted 30th May 1873. S.O.W.454, followed by the name of G. Ellison, 30.5 c. / 298.5. The latter believed added after the surveying map was made Kauaeroa 12a. 2r. 36p. Riria Te Parehuia and Riria Te Kahurangi. Transmitted Febry. 1st 1853 Tutai Paraikete 22a. 2r. 20p. Hareriweti Tangahoe. Transmitted Febry. 1st. 1873 Rangituhi. Claimed by Matengate Hiko. 8a. 2r. 12p. Surveyors of this map are believed to be Wyles and Buck. This information researched by curator and recorded on catalogue card record Pencilled note on verso states: Porirua lands Substantial note on map, signed by Henry Jackson, Chief surveyor, July 23rd. 1873, gives information about Government surveyors defining the extent of boundaries of Crown and Native Lands. A second note by Henry Jackson, Chief surveyor, gives information about a portion of land already granted to Thos. Ellison. Includes a few pencilled sums in the margin. Quantity: 1 manuscript map(s).
