Description: Undated and unsigned cartoon published in an unidentified edition of 'Punch or the Auckland Charivari' dated 1868. Depicts commissioner James Mackay, also known as "The Thames Autocrat" addressing gold miners at Thames from a small stage: "Proceed good people with your buildings and improvments; continue to behave yourselves, and at the end of seven years I will raise everybody's rent."
