Description: Topographic map of 2559 acres of the Taupo Swamp includes part of the coastline and the land behind. Adjoining areas are marked as Crown Land, Motuhara and Haukopua East, both of which were surveyed by Wyles and Buck. An area has been pencilled as Native Reserve. Streams are marked, Taupo and Hokiku Creeks are named. Bearings have been checked, some added, while discrepancies have been noted. The Motuhara Plan is referred to in connection with boundaries. Description: Survey map of Hakeri no. 6F (corrected in pencil to no. 4F), Waikawa showing the property claimed by James and Robert Ranfield as 361-2-0 acres (corrected in red ink to 363-2-0 acres). Distinguishable features of the property include the sea in the west, the Waikawa River, Hakeri, the Okaka swamp, Ngata Rata stream and Pukahu. Original title: 'Hakeri no. 6F ...' changed by pencil annotation. Several manuscript corrections to map, as per note on map 'NB: BF corrected in terms with Wairawa surveys - WIB'. Description: Survey map of Maori land blocks in the Otaki district, from the Waitohu Trig southwards to the Hinetua and Pahiku blocks, east to the Kaingaraki no. 1 & 3 and Kohatu a Humai blocks, and west to the Ferry Hotel. The major focus of the map is the identification of 42 named rural Maori land blocks in the vicinity of the township. Land within the township itself is depicted as sections. Dennan's peg is marked in the Urukaraka block. Two areas are labelled "surveyed by Swainson" and "surveyed by Hughes", and another area is marked "Crown grant to Matene". The main road, tracks, streams and the course of the Otaki riverbed (not named) are shown. Similar to map IRN 1148858, but slightly less detail. Scale probably 5 chains to the inch. Description: Survey map of Waikawa, Otaki, from the sea, southwards to Waitohu government trig, westwards to Pukehou government trig and Hanawera, and northwards of the Waikawa River to an unnamed pa site near Okau. Depicts Te Rauparaha's Pa (68 acres) next to the Waikawa River, Te Kotai (13 acres), and three Crown land grants - Huritini (1024 acres) to Manahi, an unspecified grant to Rawiri Wanui, as well as Hakeri No. 6F, granted to J and R Ransfield. Several Maori place names are shown, including Wakahoro and Ketemaringi. Contains several pencil annotations regarding numerical survey detail, including a circumference of figures around an unnamed point near Te Motu peak. Description: Cadastral map of the Pito-one Town Board district, showing sections 1-8 and 79, street layout, property boundaries, numbered residential sections, dwellings, railways, businesses and cemeteries. The town is bounded by sections 19, 78, 16, 17, 9 and 10 and a Native (Maori) reserve. The area west of the Wellington - Napier railway is shaded as hill country. The map includes a large Public Works Department, the Pito-one Station, brewery, timber yard, the Gear Company Works and wharf, Marine Retreat Hotel, woollen factory, schools, Wainuiomata waterworks main, Waltonville, the Working Men's Club, Oddfellows Hall, churches, and two Maori cemeteries (urupa) along the esplanade. Names on the map include: Te Ahi Parara, Te Upoko o te Poaka, Mr Tyer, Mr Kelly (shoemaker), Matene Tauwhare, Mr Reston, Mr Manning, Mr Ridler, Mr Chapman, Dr Hector, and Mr E Barber. Description: Consists of two maps, one on each side of the sheet, both surveying a Native (Maori) Reserve between Russell Terrace and Adelaide Road, Newtown (near Berhampore), Wellington. Map one, 'Survey of N[ative] R[eserve] Newtown' shows survey measurements and markings across area named Newtown and survey compass measurements in a 360 degree circle. Includes the names Matene and Ihaka. Map two, '[Native (Maori) Reserve sections bounded by Adelaide Road, South Road, Russell Terrace and Wharepori Road, Newtown, Wellington, showing Maori owners]'. Shows one acre sections, part surveyed, numbered 972 - 989 and 994 - 1007. Also marks Reserve no. 215 alongside Section 971. Sections show names of Maori owners: Nakora Te Manukarioe; Waaka, Taura; Mita Metiria; Ihaka Te Row (Rou), Ehara; Akauihi; Taniati Te Wera; Huikana Ngapaui; Teira Te Watakore; Rapaua Te Owhiro; Harata, Maria; Paora Teretu; Tiare Te Hua; Kuraheke; Ihikiera, Apikaira (some spelling difficult to decipher, so may not be correct). Description: Surveying map of Tahoramaurea and Tokomapuna Islands and part of Kapiti Island from Ohoko to Te Rere on the eastern side and Maraetakaroro to Te Oneroa on the western side. Includes numerous Maori placenames and notes referring to land claims, such as Kapiti claim No. 2 claimed by Hare Rewette and others. Kaiwharawhara West No. 3 claimed by J. Cootes and others. Rangatira Kapiti No. 4, 1635 acres, claimed by Tamihana te Rauparaha and others. Ngatitoa are referred to in a note about a removal of a [surveying] pole. Creeks are named and the Tuteremoana government trig station is marked. Numerous pencilled notes appear to have been added later. A rough sketch in pencil has been added to part of Kapiti Island to the south of the area drawn by the surveyor, marked as Te Mingi, labelled as Crown Land, granted to David Brown Esqre. Other acreages are: Te Whi Whi and Rakapau 751 acres. Tamiahana Te Ruaparaha, H'oue Te Okorokutia 751 acres. Small blocks of land with boundaries include names: 73 acres Wi Parata, 50 acres Ngatitoa.
