Jenny Shipley does a unicycle act on the high/slack wire. She can't look down for fear of falling, and she can't look up for fear of the coalition government she carries on her shoulders. Jack Elder and Tuku Morgan line-up behind Tau Henare in a new political allegiance. The American Republicans are exposed in their determination to impeach President Clinton over sex allegations no matteer what public opinion is. Jenny Shipley announces under National's new housing policy people in sub-standard housing will be assisted to buy their properties rather than rent them. Tim Shadbolt has been re-elected Mayor of Invercargill. Russia backs the bloody regime of Slobodan Milosivic against the Albanians. Jenny Shipley receives a negative reaction from the Dairy Board members over comments they should dig their own graves and make their wills. Description: The plan of a new road at Terawhiti, includes a smaller version at a different scale mounted adjacent to the larger version. Sections are numbered, includes un-named streams and a track. The plan of part No. 1 shows the proposed road adjacent to Snowden's Road, from Printer's Creek to the summit which is 688 feet above Printer's Flat. Includes Stony Creek, numbered sections and two areas marked Native Reserves. The proposed road is continued on the plan of part No. 2 showing this road from the summit at 688 feet, with a small section of Snowden's Road, 100 chains north of Plan No. 1. Includes numbered sections, creeks including Te Kaminaru Creek, also Te Kaminaru Range. The Domain trig is named. Each map includes a smaller version, at a different scale, mounted adjacent to the larger version. The untitled map of roads in Ohariu includes Brown's Ohariu Road linked by an un-named road to the Old Ohariu Road. A location along the un-named road is named Taylor's, and is probably a trig. Sections are numbered and include the names of R. Bould, Himi Pari & others, also two sections of native reserve. A smaller version of the map, at a different scale, is drawn in bottom right corner. Probably Wellington Harbour from the Hutt Road or Petone in the 1850s looking towards the twown of Wellington. Attributed to Fox on stylistic grounds, along with A-210-008 and A-210-009. The figures in the foreground and the manner of rendering choppy sea are very typical of Fox's work Displayed in "Paradise" (Gifts to the nation), National Library Gallery, January - April 2005. Description: Palisades of the pa at Kaiwharawhara, at the water's edge, with raupo houses, with verandahs and tree-trunk columns in the foreground, with one Maori man reclining in the left foreground and a woman and child seated by one of the whare. Two canoes, with Maori chapel of raupo beyond them in the middle ground and a European yacht beyond that. On the background hill to the right, the whalers' lookout "Tutaewera", aand on the central hill, a zig-zag Maori path running up the Ngaio Gorge area. The background range shows British Peak on the left and Mount Kaukau on the right. The file print during 1970s and 80s attributed to John Pearse and titled "Wellington". However, it pre-dates Pearse's time in Wellington during the 1850s. Other Titles - Wellington. John Pearse. See article about this picture in Kapa-Mana News 20 August 1980, by William Secker. The painting is pre-1845, since the Hutt Road is not yet formed. The architecture of the raupo huts on the left shows the whalers' influence, with the tree-trunk verandah posts. Description: Shows a Maori man and woman with a child on the woman's back, walking beside their packhorse on a road at the left. The packhorse is laden with red saddlebags. The road continues into the foreground and curves away again to the right, disappearing into a bushcovered hilly area. The couple are passing a central rata tree in flower, and there are bushcovered hills in the distance. In the foreground in front of the rata is a pool or section of a river. Location suggested to be the Hutt Valley, but may be one of the gorges off the western side of the harbour, possibly near the old Porirua Road. Letter of authentication dated 24 August 1983 on backing board. Sometimes known as "Maori travellers ..."
