Description: A base map of Lake Taupo showing urban zones, existing, proposed and national reserves has been possibly used by the Officials Committee to hilight the lakeshore reserves and to mark boundaries of blocks, the extent of development, also present development and development not started, all of which are referred to in keys. Numerous pencilled notes refer to Maori land ownership and written topographical descriptions of some reserves. A few place names are added and a note states that the Oruapuraho and Waikino streamas are out of position, Blocks are named Whareroa, Te Hapua, Waikino, Waihaha, Puketapu, Marotiri, Acacia, Tuhingamata, Wairakei, Rangatira, Tauhara Base map: Taupo Lakeshore, showing urban zones and reserves under District Planning schemes and suggested national reserves. Description: Cadastral manuscript map of part of the Lansdowne Estate adjacent to the homestead. Numbered sections include acreages and boundary measurements. Pencilled annotations include names of French Street, Raglan Street, Robert Street now known as Roberts Road. Pencilled annotions also show an extension to the homestead, the site of W. H. Cruickshank's house, a creek, Nitz Bros. property, the site of the old hospital, Te Ore Ore Road. The second cadastral map is a sales map by W. B. Chennells, auctioneer, for the sale of four sections, each 95 acres of agricultural land, offered for sale by Messrs. McGregor Bros. of Lower Manaia. The area encompassed lies between the main Masterton to Gladstone Road and the Waingawa River. Includes seven numbered sections with the site of McGregor's Homestead. Good deep soil is noted, high land and the site of a pond. Includes notes on the agriculture of the area, mentioning the adjoining dairy farm of J. E. Pond. No scale is given. This sales notice refers to the Times, Masterton, N.Z. The third map is a sales map by Langley Shaw, land agent of Hamilton, or Samuel Vaile & Sons, 95 Queen Street, Auckland and Hamilton. Okauia, the 9000 acre property, adjoins Mata Mata, Maungawhero and Selwyn Estates and is situated near Mata Mata and Hinuera railway stations. 'B' Portion No. 1 Block is subdivided into five farms for private sale. The farms, encompassed by the Waihou or Thames River, Okoroira River and the road to Tauranga, include acreages and boundary measurements. Several roads run through the farms, named and give directions to Mata Mata, Okoroire and Hinuera, Te Aroha, Tauranga. The Waiomau Stream is marked. Each farm includes a description of the terrain, i.e. flat country, bush, low hills. One section of 200 acres is owned by Bates. A printed note, mounted to the right of the map, gives information about the state of the land, prices per acre and term deposits, also the adjoining Mangawhero Estate recently purchased by the Government to be subdivided for close settlement. Adjacent to Okauia is McGuire's property, described as grass land with pine trees, also Heaney's property described as grass land, and the Selwyn Estate. Scale [1:31 680] The locality plan shows the location of 'B' Portion of Okouia No. 1 Block. 'A' Portion of Okouia No. 1 is shown and Okouia No. 4. The area is encompassed by the Waihou or Thames River and the railway line from Walton to Oxford, including named railway stations. The Mangawhero Stream and the Maungawhero Estate are named. Description: Cadastral map, with topographical information, of the Taupo District, showing numbered Maori land blocks. Includes the area from Te Poua Kani, eastwards to Te Kowhatu Whakairo, southwards to the Mohaka River and Mangatainoko, and westwards to Te Kohatu. Land blocks sited include Kaimanawa, Tapapa, Te Matai, Wharetoto, Waikare Mohaka, Runanga, Pohokura, Tauhara, Tauranga, Pukahunui, Kaingaroa, Paeroa, Whakamaru, Maraetai and Okahukura. Description: A copy of a base map of Tongariro timber areas includes state forests and covers the area from the Whakapapa, Wanganui and Taringamutu Rivers to Lake Taupo, Tokaanu and the Waikato River, and the road from National Park to Taupo. A key indicates forestry areas as Crown, Native, Crown & Native, Cut-over, Committed and State Forest, all of which are colour coded. The majority of these forestry blocks are named on the map. Pencilled annotations refer to possible access of tracks through forestry blocks. The west shore of Lake Taupo has detailed information about Maori occupation naming pa and whare sites, geographical features, settlements, references to Waka, also some names of people. All names are in the Maori language with some English translations. The base map includes rivers and streams, main highways and private roads. The Pokaka Timber Company and Ketetahi Smg. Co. are named. Includes the names of Hopkins, Speirs & Winger, C.P. & P.D. Smith, Wier & Kenny, McKee Bros., K.R. Kapoor. A note states that this plan was compiled for reference inspection by S.A.C. Description: The first map is a plan of Turangawaewae Marae, Waikato, showing the pa site, including Turongo House, Mahingarangi House, Kimi-kimi Dining Hall, octagon office, flag poles, recreation grounds and lawns. Arrows from the river road to Hamilton East go through and lead out of the pa. The second map is partly a locality map, but also includes numbered sections, with acreages, west and southwest of Turangawaewae, while arrows show movement through the pa. Description: A base cadastral map of thirty-two numbered sections with acreages and some boundary measurements, in part of the Pukawa land block, owned by Kahu Te Kuru, in the Puketi survey district. The annotation to this map shows the numbered sections outlined as far as the lake's edge. One section is marked for community use (parking). Roads included are Motutaiko Street and Pihanga Road which is noted as formed, metalled and being legalised. Includes reserves adjacent to Lake Taupo, and the lines of the current lake edge in 1963 and the lake edge by M.L. 3729. Two areas of 4C3 are marked for development by Trustees.
