Description: A base map of Wainui sewerage disposal scheme has been used to show the treatment works, the sites of the pump, gravity sewer and outfall, some of which are referred to in a key. The area of the map is from the Hutt River and Seaview Road following the coastline to the Baring Head lighthouse. Bays and settlements are named, as is Ward Island. Somes Island is marked but is unnamed. Inland, Fitzherbert and Moores Valley Road are named, as is the settlement of Wainuiomata. Sugarloaf and Mount Grace are marked, as is a site of a cottage, a grass paddock and an area of gorse. Gollans Stream and the Orongorongo River are named. The Wainuiomata River is unnamed, and an adjacent track or road is marked which the line of sewage system follows to the outfall at Fitzroy Bay. Description: Map of the Hutt River, showing proposed improvement works dated 1899 (which are hard to distinguish as they are in red on the original and camouflaged on this copy) from section 58 in the Huttt Valley southwards to the Waiwhetu River and the mouth of the Hutt River. Shows water levels, overflow and flood channels, watermarks, shingle areas, engineering measurements, site of the old and new bridge, the river channel as at 1870 compared to the current river channel. Description: The base map, from the New Zealand cadastral map Town Series, of Wellington city encompasses part of Island Bay Parade and Lyall Parade to Evans Bay to Kaiwharawhara to Wilton Road to Happy Valley Road. Description: Base maps of lands for selection on renewable lease in the Poroporo settlement, Masterton County. The boundaries of farm sections in the Wellington Land District, No. 672, are prominently outlined and include descriptions of the fences. The Wainuioru River and Kuamahunga Stream are marked as are sites of homesteads. The base map of the Poroporo settlement has a newspaper cutting about the result of the land ballot mounted adjacent to it. Section and Block numbers are recorded along with the price, number of applicants and names of successful applicants in Otahuao and Wainuioru Survey Districts. The first inset locality map adjoins the main map and shows the roads and rivers to Masterton, using a smaller scale. The second inset locality map is of the bottom half of North island showing Poroporo. A schedule includes acreages and rent. Instructions to applicants and a caution follow with the printed name of T. N. Brodrick, Commissioner of Crown Lands. Includes an abstract of conditions of lease. Description: Cadastral map of the area of Titahi Bay from Kapakakanui and Ohangahao creeks along the coastline to Rocky Bay, in Block 11 Paikakariki [i.e. Paekakariki] Survey District. Numbered sections are adjacent to the Titai [i.e Titahi] Creek and the Landing [stage], include acreages and boundary measurements, while some sections have monetary values in pounds sterling noted. Proposed sections and roads are pencilled in, and adjoin the numbered sections in the subdivision, College Reserve and Part No. 110. Some reserves include acreages and boundary measurements. Terrace and Lambley roads are named as are Richard, Whanake, Te Hiko and Morere streets which are intersected by John Street. Includes Bay Drive which intersects with the road from Porirua and a proposed road along the bay is marked. The site of Mr. Jillett's homestead is marked. Numerous springs and creeks are marked. The photograph shows Miramar looking towards Seatoun Heights ca 1907 and was taken by Muir & McKinlay. The first map is of Miramar or Whataitai in Maori times and includes Maori place names, pa sites etc as well as a key to archaeological remains found in the area and whether they were human, oven or moa. The second is of land plots in Miramar.
