Description: A copy of a cadastral map of the area between The Terrace and Whitmore Street, Boulcott Street to Cuba Street, Brougham Street to Clyde Quay Wharf and Herd Street. Sections and subdivisions are numbered and include numerous Deeds plan numbers. Government, provincial and Thorn Reclamation land includes block numbers. Wharves are named. Names include Town Hall, and land belonging to the Wellington Harbour Board and Wellington City Council is marked. Streets are named, as are some rights of way such as Opera House Lane. Description: Recent prints from old photographs of Wellington, originallty taken between about 1841 and 1929. Includes one photograph of a painting of Wellington waterfront from 1841, by Charles Heaphy. Only a few images identify the photographers, the Burton Brothers, Tyree Brothers and James Bragge. The Bragge photograph (looking down to the Harbour from Hill Street taken in the 1880s) was identified from his horse-drawn carriage with his name and occupation emblazoned on the side. Description: Part of a map of Lambton, Wellington, from the New Zealand Railways Goods Yard, Thorndon, southwards to the Queen's Wharf, eastwards to the Botanical Gardens and northwards to the Tinakori Reservoir. Shows the outline of the proposed new wharves (Lambton and Thorndon), named streets, section numbers, some with acreage, significant dwellings, such as the Turnbull Library, Synagogue, Orphanage, cemeteries, parliament buildings, swimming baths, schools, part of the Botanical Gardens, part of the Town Belt, Ahumairangi Heights (now part of Wilton), and part of the Kaupapa Maori Land Block. Shows extensive soundings in fathoms, a pa (kainga) and the Waterloo Inn at Kaiwharawhara Point, southwards to 'Cliff' (Pipitea) Pa, military barracks, Thorndon settlement, Government House and offices, Custom House, a pa (kainga) on the coast at ?Te Aro Stream, Mount Cook military barracks, a large inlet (to present day Basin's Reserve) and a mill.
