Description: Album recording a motoring and camping holiday through the South Island of New Zealand. This took in the New Zealand South Seas Exhibition in Dunedin and included the West Coast, Otago, and Canterbury. The central part of the album has images of Khandallah, Wellington, and the family home in that suburb. Family photographs include Doug on his Norton Motorcycle, and Jack and Neville similarly posed on a Douglas Motorcycle. Rene and Frank stand at the net holding tennis rackets, and mother has several images with young Joyce. The last part of the album recordes something of a holiday to Auckland where the family camped at Brown's Bay and took a trip to Kawau Island. A group shot on Mt Messanger on the way back and some views of Pukekura Park New Plymouth complete the album Quantity: 1 b&w original photographic print(s).

Description: Postcards of New Zealand made ca 1900s, from photographers who include Frank Denton, Henry Winkelmann and James Valentine. The largest groups are images of Auckland, Christchurch, Dundedin, Invercargill, and Lake Wakatipu. Other places include Wellington, Te Aroha, Nelson, Gore, Pukekura park New Plymouth, Ngaruawahia Bridge, the pink and white terraces, Lake Tarawera, the Whanganui River, Lake Te Anau, the Southern Alps, the Hermitage, and Milford Sound. There are also four portraits of Maori. Quantity: 5 b&w original photographic print(s) postcards. 66 b&w photo-mechanical print(s) postcards, many of which are hand coloured. Provenance: This group of postcards belonged to a Miss A H Jeffs of Hurstville, Sydney, and were sent to her by New Zealand correspondents, who like her, were interested in collecting post card images. The postal dates for all of them are 1906 and 1907.

Visit to W H Guthrie Smith at Tutira, March 1937. This includes a photograph of Guthrie-Smith and another of the Tutira homestead with Guthrie-Smith and E G Turbot walking in the garden. Trip to Tokomaru Bay, February 1935. Photographs include Fishermen, Mount Hikurangi, Kiritahi Homestead, the Raukumaru Range, the Kopuapounamu River, the Maungakariki Stream, and other geological features. Photographs taken during a Geology II camp at Kawhia, Easter 1935. Shows student groups on a beach, Tainui Rock, and Albatross Point. A view of the coast and the old copper mine building, Kawau Island. Auckland University College Field Club's trip to to the Noises Islands, 1935. Depicts students collecting snail shells and grouped on a beach, and a view of a rocky islet from a cliff top. The locations depicted are Otata Island, Maria Island, and David Rocks. Auckland University Science Society picnic, and the Auckland Conchological Club's trip to Rangitoto Island, 1935. Auckland Univerity College Field Club's camp in the Huia Valley, May 1935. Views of Rangitoto Island and the Hauraki Gulf. This sequence includes photographs of Black-Backed and Red Billed gulls, their nests, eggs and chicks. Charles Fleming and a group of friends climbing on ice. Poor Knights Islands showing landscape, vegetation including Xeronema in flower, and a small penguin. Views of Waiheke Island which include Squadron Bay, a fossil bed at Oneroa, and Matiata. Gulls photographed on Motutapu Island, November 1933. A trip to Great Barrier Island. This sequence includes views of Port Fitzroy, a warship, Grave islet, Mount Camel, rocks and islets called "the Grey group," Wellington Head, Nelson Island and other islands at the entrance to Fitzroy Harbour, Whanagaparapara Harbour, Mount Hobson, Arid Island, Mohuki Island, and a gannet colony. Other photographs of bird life include shags perching in trees, gulls and pigeon and kaka in bush on Hen Island, a fantail and nest, shearwater and petrel burrows, and flocks of seabirds on a rocky coast. Description: Views of the Southern Lakes District, interspersed with a few scenes in the North Island taken by the Burton Brothers and Muir & Moodie between about 1885 and 1919. Most of the places mentioned are listed above. Image no. 63 shows a party of men and women at Sandfly Point (Milford Sound) showing some of the women wearing veils over their hats for protection from sandflies; image no. 79 "Phantom canoe as seen on Lake Tarawera" is an artist's impression of the phantom canoe which appeared to a group of tourists on Lake Tarawera on May 31st prior to the eruption of Mount Tarawera on June 10th 1886 and which was considered to be a bad omen; image no. 82 shows a collage "No. 1. Maori Land. The portraits are originals - taken from life"; image no. 094 shows a close-up view of the "wire tram" over the Taramakau River; no. 095 shows a logging tramway in the Taupaki Kauri Bush belonging to Matthew Henry Roe, while no. 120 shows his Kauri Point Sawmill, with the paddle steamer "Oregon" in the background; no. 096 shows a self-acting tramway incline at Wairongomai used for gold extraction; nos 104 and 105 show gold dredges, "the Dunedin Gold Dredge" and "Sew Hoy's Dredge".
