Description: Hydro electric power and irrigation dams, in particular the construction of the Pool Burn Reservoir dam. Some dam sites before construction, specifically a site on the Manuherikia River for the "Manuherikia Falls Dam". There are photographs of "White Creek Fault" and the effects of the Murchison earthquake on roads, bridges and the countryside. Especially covered is the lake formed by an earth slide across the Matakitaki River Likely to be a very interesting collection. Furkert was a leading public servant through the 1920s and 1930s. Description: Album of photographs taken by W W Rowntree. They cover a journey between Wairoa and Taupo, travelling on foot with a packhorse, and with two companions between Taihape and Wairoa. The album includes two envelopes with loose photographs, one contains one photograph of a Maori family seated on the ground in front of a thatched building, and the other contains four photographs entitled "Waikaremoana" in pencil on the envelope. Three of these show groups of Maori, and one shows the lake. A handwritten slip inserted in the front of the album gives the following information: "The exact location of Maori homes not known. Note storehouse in actual use; totara bark (?); thatch (in loose photo); Mokau Falls; track at Hopuruahine Bluffs; men's dress (one man wearing a waistcoat with fob watch chain, p 16); Maori boy holding a camera; Earthquake Gully; a road around a lake; Crow's Nest Geyser etc" Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s). Description: Postcards, chiefly of Australia, including Tasmania, Adelaide, Queensland, New South Wales, with several showing various tin mines in Tasmania. There is a section of New Zealand postcards in the middle of the album, many taken by an Australian photographic company "Charles H Kerry & Co", labelled "Series 53. Hot Lakes District, New Zealand". These images are tinted, and include views of the Huka Falls, the Pink and White Terraces, Waiotapu, Ohinemutu, Whakarewarewa, Lakes Waikaremoana and Taupo, and the Aratiatia Rapids. The NZ images also include views of the Mount Cook region of the South Island, including Franz Josef Glacier, Hooker Glacier, Mounts Darwin, Sefton and Cook, and Lakes Te Anau and Wakatipu.
