Description: View towards the south end of Lake Taupo, showing snow-covered Ruapehu, and steaming Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ketetahi crater in left background. In centre distance is Motutaiko Island. Figures wading in water at left foreground are holding fishing nets. There are two small fishing craft at right foreground, and craft with sails further off. Inscription at lower edge, gives name of engraver, "Sargent" - Alfred Louis Sargent. M.E. Charton's edition appears to be a reprint of the original 1865 edition of "Le tour du monde..." Description: Postcards, chiefly of Australia, including Tasmania, Adelaide, Queensland, New South Wales, with several showing various tin mines in Tasmania. There is a section of New Zealand postcards in the middle of the album, many taken by an Australian photographic company "Charles H Kerry & Co", labelled "Series 53. Hot Lakes District, New Zealand". These images are tinted, and include views of the Huka Falls, the Pink and White Terraces, Waiotapu, Ohinemutu, Whakarewarewa, Lakes Waikaremoana and Taupo, and the Aratiatia Rapids. The NZ images also include views of the Mount Cook region of the South Island, including Franz Josef Glacier, Hooker Glacier, Mounts Darwin, Sefton and Cook, and Lakes Te Anau and Wakatipu. Description: Album of pressed ferns, most of which are used to frame images of New Zealand, but some pages consist solely of pressed ferns. The photographs show New Zealand scenes, and include two postcards of collages. One has the legend "Maoridom" and at the base "The old order changeth" with a photograph of Maori king Tawhiao, and various artifacts including taiaha, cloaks, and two preserved heads of Maori. The other shows portraits of a number of Maori men and women, and views of Parihaka and Ohinemutu. Among the views of new Zealand scenery are images of the White Terraces in eruption, the Pink Terraces, Manawatu Gorge, Dunedin, Queen Street (Auckland), Lake Ada, and Tois Tois [sic] Island on the Clinton River, Lake Te Anau.
