Description: View of Cowes Bay looking south-west down onto the beach from a high vantage point on the headland to the north of the bay. The wharf can be seen in the middle foreground, and a large wooden building (Cowes Bay boarding house / hotel?) is in the middle distance behind trees. People are walking on the beach, and rowing or playing in boats close to shore. A group of people are buying things at the shop on the beachfront opposite the wharf. Description: View of Cowes Bay taken from a high vantage point above the bay and looking north. Pakatoa Island is just visible in the far distance on the right. A ferry is moored at the wharf. The Cowes Bay boarding house / hotel? is in the immediate foreground on the left. People can be seen crowded around the pavilion or passenger waiting room (?) in the middle distance near the end of the wharf. Taken by William Archer Price in early 1900s.
