Otago Boys' High is the large Victorian Gothic building to the left in the foreground and Queens Drive curves around the bush-clad hill to its left. Description: Reproduction of a painting by an unidentified artist showing the eastern side of Commercial Bay when the town was about twenty years old. Shortland Street with its long row of shops and houses can be seen climbing the hill, while at the top stands the first St Paul's Church in the centre of Emily Place. The town's first stone warehouse, Grahame's Bond is in the foreground. The gabled house on the left was probably the first harbour-master's residence.
