Description: A base map of the Manawatu River, from MacGregor's Bend to the sea, includes county and district boundary lines. The Moutere and Mt. Robinson Survey Districts are named. Includes areas marked as Reserved for Harbour Board purposes, Papangaio Native Reserve and Signal Station Reserve, all with acreages. The mouth of the river is marked as at 1923. Includes the sites of the pilot station and flgstaffs. Names include Te Awa, Whaiangi, N.W. Park. The area marked as Harbour Board endowment and part of the reserve for Harbour Board purposes has been hilighted on this base map Extended Title - Scheme plan of proposed subdivision of part Pukewa 4C3, Block III Puketi survey district Note at top left of map states: Pursuant to section 120 (3) of the Reserves Disposal etc. Act 1924, the Crown Land accretion coloured green hereon is vested as an endowment in the Foxton Harbour Board. Description: An early map of the South Island and Stewart Island, drawn to a shape that is unrecognisable, showing Maori placenames of coastal and harbour areas and two lakes. Written on map are comments, including descriptions of the quality of harbours and land, such as 'only fit for boats', 'flat land', 'plenty of seals', 'plenty of whalers huts', and navigators' notes. Description: Topographic map of the coastline from Lambton Harbour to Lyall Bay. Evans Bay is marked, includes depths in fathoms and the site of the dock with acreages and including the hill behind. In Lambton Harbour the site of a wharf adjacent to an area of reclaimed land is marked as is the site of the city of Wellington. Signal stations and a pilot's station are marked. The area of land from Evans Bay to Lyall bay is divided into numbered sections, part of which is named Burnham Water with notes which state that this land is now drained and that the whole peninsula is good grazing land and used as a sheep and cattle farm. The site of a homestead of Major Mc. Barnet is marked in section 9, about 390 acreas, on the peninsula. A homestead and stockyard etc. are marked at Evans Bay. Port Nicholson and Cook Strait are marked. Stamp on bottom left corner states: Waterlow and Sons, London - improved. Quantity: 1 manuscript map(s).
