Description: Photographs taken during the royal tour of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York in 1901. Scenes include the arrival of the royal visitors at various places, by ship, Royal carriages, and Royal train; ceremonies and rites welcoming them; views of triumphal arches erected for the tour, including Marble Arch (Queen Street, Auckland), the Auckland Harbour Board Arch, the Citizen's Arch (Wellesley Street), and the Government Arch (City of Wellington). Other ceremonies are associated with the presentation of war-medals; the laying of foundation stones (Victoria College for Maori Girls, Parnell, Auckland), the Wellington Town Hall, and the Queens Memorial Statue in Dunedin); and the march past and inspection of various guards, troops and veterans. One photograph shows Lord Ranfurly in Auckland, reading the proclamation extending the boundaries of the colony to include the Cook Islands (p 16). Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s). Description: Album created by Captain C Hellier Evans (Charles Hellier David Evans), commander of A Squadron, 9th (Wellington East Coast) Mounted Rifles, in the Gisborne area. Numbers of group portraits of officers and non-commissioned officers give surnames with rank, and occasionally initials as well. The album opens with several views of Major General Godley inspecting troops, and then presenting medals to individual soldiers. Several photographs on page 7 show Gisborne celebrations in connection with the coronation of George V, June 1911. Description: Programme for the Port Chalmers peace celebrations on Saturday 19 July and Monday 21 July 1919. Floral tributes were to be placed on soldiers' graves and school children were to assemble at Port Chalmers District High School, march down Ajax Road and Wickliffe Terrace and line up on George Street. The Mayoress Mrs J D Stevenson was to hoist the flag on the Municipal Building. A procession was to take place, and the route is listed. All traffic was to cease for 5 minutes at 12 o'clock and bells to ring for 5 minutes. Later would follow a children's lunch, sports and picture shows, highland dance entertainment. The SS "Westmoreland" would release a rocket, and the fire brigade would proceed to the Recreation ground to attend a fireworks display. On the Monday there would be a social dance for the returned soldiers. The last page shows a list of the men of the district, killed during the war. The front cover shows a head and shoulders oval portrait of George V between the New Zealand and British flags. Quantity: 1 colour photo-mechanical print(s).
