Description: Letter to the Prime Minister, Peter Fraser, from the Mayor of Nelson, J A Harley, dated 19 September 1949 which accompanied the "especially prepared" album compiled by the Railway Action Committee of the Nelson Provincial Progress League to illustrate the need for there to be action over the neglected Nelson to Glenhope railway. Album entitled "A wasting asset. New Zealand's oldest railway. Views not suitable for tourist publications". Also acknowledgement from the PM's Private Secretary that album received 21 September 1949. Quantity: 2 letters relating to album. Provenance: The letters accompanying the album indicate that it was sent to the Prime Minister by the Mayor of Nelson, J A Harley, on behalf of the Railway Action Committee. Presumably the PM's Department passed it on to the National Library (and from them to Turnbull). According to the letter copies of the album were also to be sent to the Minister of Railways and the General Manager of Railways.
